Around the World in One Day 2011

One World Week is around the corner again this year!
Let's enjoy and show our country's diversity in our university.
It will be going on from 28 February 2011(Monday) until 4 March 2011(Friday).

UPMY committees have decided to join Around the World in One Day in order to show the diversity of Malaysia with the students in Portsmouth.

Around the World in One Day
Date: 2 March 2011, Wednesday
Time: 5pm - 7pm
Venue: 3rd Space, Student Union

Activities:
1. Exhibition of Malaysian's culture
We will be exhibiting some information of the diversity of cultures, ethnics and languages in Malaysia.
To let more people know about Malaysia, we are giving out:
- Brochures of states in Malaysia
- Food sample (display and give away)
  Mazola biscuits (nut cookies) and Muruku

AND show:
- Traditional clothes displays
- Traditional games and crafts
Congkak (audience have the opportunity to try and play)
Mini tanglung/ mini Chinese lantern (display and demonstration)
Kolam (demonstration)


2. Cultural dance
- Joget Toleh Menoleh
Main performance by the members (4 minutes)
- Joget Lambak
Performance with the audiences (4 minutes)
Audience have the chance to dance together

3. Traditional craft demonstration
- Demonstration on “How to make a Mini Tanglung”.
Duration: 5 minutes (different slot)
The demonstration will not be conducted openly at the centre of the 3rd Space.
Audiences could have the chance of try making the mini tanglung.
Sample of mini tanglung will be exhibited at the booth.
