A letter from your UPMY

University of Portsmouth
Malaysian Society 2010/2011

Assalamualaikum/Hi.

As this academic year has finally comes to an end, on behalf of both the previous and current board of committees, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt gratitude to ALL for the supports we received throughout the year.

As for this summer, I assume that many of us will be doing a little bit of travelling, so go and have a blast or getting a part time job, perhaps? Well, then I'd wish you very well and definitely good luck! And for the rest who are already back at home or om your way back home sweet home, do watch your diet and keep a healthy lifestyle. You wouldn't want to put on too much weight and too much of social activities with your mates back at home. Of cause, stay out of sun!

As the newly elected Malaysian Society board committee, we have planned many exciting events for the members throughout the next academic year. This events include activities like Malaysian Night, Portsmouth Games, BBQ party as well as educational activities for the benefits of the members. We are hoping that through this society all Malaysian Society members can stick together and be united as a whole big family. Truth to be told; we can never organize any events without support or participation from all of you.

Currently our society has less than 150 members causing the chances to be successful in organizing activities or events rather thin. We are really hoping that after the summer break, all members will take the very first step of supporting us by renewing their membership and participating in all the events that we are going to organize in future.

By breaking down, generally you will be only spending £1 on this society monthly - and it does seem reasonably cheap". For your information, the previous board committee had struggled to maintain the society's finance last year. This is due to the reason that half of the membership fee were refunded to the new members as it is found that the membership fees were not affordable. When we start the session anew now, we are left with no funding at all, causing us to start all over again.

We really hope that you will continue to support the society.
We look forward to see you the next academic year and serve the society to the benefit of all.

And don't forget to look out for our boot during Freshers Fayre during orientation week!! You may want to know what we'll be got up to for the next academic year.

Best Wishes
Thank you
