One World Week Monday

Behold...we will be travelling around the world in just one day, even faster than Philleas Fogg - except that we are cheating by having the world displayed right in front of us at UPSU's newly opened third space. Yes, it is another edition of University of Portsmouth's One World Week. As usual, UPMY always (and have always been) have a booth dedicated to showing the beauty of multi-culturalism to the rest of the world.

From Oman to Malaysia to Indonesia to Saudi Arabia to India and so on. It doesn't get any better than this...

Two gorgeous ladies with our very own booth. Tourism pamphlets courtesy of Tourism Malaysia office, London.

"Okay, so 100 of these equals to about 25 Pounds, 50 equals to about 10 Pounds, 10 equals to about 2 Pounds..."

Celebrating friendship with Nigerians...

"Anok ganu men biso~"

Of course, any Malaysian cultural showcase wouldn't be complete without cultural performances. Our graceful dancers certainly didn't disappoint the cheering crowd of hundreds.

Apparently spotlights are not just for dancers alone...

India vs UK

"Hmm, I wonder if Malaysians still live on trees?"

Yes, I know you all want encore. You asked for it, you got it. The next stop will be at Ravelin Park, this Friday (30th of April 2010). See you there! Until then, salam muhibah.

Annual General Dinner

22nd April 2010

Time for another Annual general makan makan session again. This time, we all headed right to Water Margin for a night full (and stomachful) of buffet. Oh gosh, berat tambah 5 kilo lagi kot... XP

Haizzzz, pity you all who didn't come. That night we all got 20% discount, you know!

The new official logo

Introducing our new society logo. The brainchild of Devan Munasamy, this logo has all the colours in the Malaysian flag. Now the purple colours and ship anchor symbolize Portsmouth while the whole shape itself bears resemblance to our national flower, the Hibiscus. If you look even closer, the whole shape itself too resembles the letters UPMY. I bet you know what's that, don't you? Ladies and gentlemen, keep the Malaysian ball rolling! Peace out. = )

Gong Xi Fa Cai!!! 恭喜发财!!!

5th of March 2010

In conjuction with CNY 2010, the Malaysian Society is holding its own CNY makan makan session at Dragon Restaurant at St. Georges road. OMG I never actually expect so many people coming for makan makan, even much much more than the previous Malaysian Night. I mean, 55! We were hogging almost the whole restaurant for ourselves.

You think I bluffing ah? See thissss:

Guys and gals, lucky for you to join. This time , more valuable for money you know. 11 Pounds (13 Pounds for non-members) for 7 dishes. Last time during Malaysian Night - how much? 10 Pounds = 3 dishes OMG what heaven and earth!!!

OMG imma' so happy tonight can makan kaw kaw. Yeah!

Here's the menu of the night:

Chinese Traditional Yee Sang

Seafood Broth

Some people call this thingy shark fin soup, though I doubt if there's any shark fin inside. If got, maybe not 11 Pounds already. Maybe 50 Pounds... XP

Steam Seabass

Fried Choy Sum with Fish Cakes

Honey Glazed Chicken Chop

Fried Rice with Anchovies

Some sort of agar2-like dessert (dunno how to describe-lah)

Free Chinese tea

Not to forget those free little packets of fortune cookies. =)
